Bluewave DAYS 2024

This globally admired sea faces serious threats that require urgent action. The Mediterranean is the most polluted, with high levels of plastics affecting its ecosystem. Additionally, it suffers from overfishing, is warming 20% faster than other seas, and is losing biodiversity at an alarming rate.

To address these challenges, during Bluewave Days 2024, various activities were organized that brought citizens closer to the reality of this sea. Between June 8 and 13, over 60 activities took place along the Spanish Mediterranean coastline:

Costa Brava: Sustainable diving week with conferences, exhibitions, workshops, marine cleanups, and inclusive outings for special groups.

Barcelona, Balearic Islands, and Malaga: Underwater photography sessions and beach and port cleanups.

Educational Training: 400 students participated in workshops, and sustainable sports projects engaged over 1,000 children.

Bluewave Symposium

The Bluewave Symposium, the central event held in Barcelona, brought together renowned scientists such as Enric Ballesteros, Emma Cebrián, Manu San Félix, and other experts, alongside entrepreneurs and companies. This space promoted dialogue on innovation and projects to protect the Mediterranean, highlighting the need to achieve 30% marine protection by 2030.
