Coinciding with World Water Day, Bluewave Alliance and the We Are Water Foundation joined forces in an awareness and waste clean-up action at Somorrostro Beach inBarcelona. This initiative, marking the first collaboration between the two organizations, aimed to raise awareness about the marine pollution crisis and promote citizen action for the protection of the Mediterranean.
Through out the day, 25 committed volunteers actively took part in the clean-up, successfully collecting over 15 kilos of plastic from the shore. The activity included not only beach cleaning, but also an educational talk led by Anèl.lides. During this session, participants learned in depth about the impact plastic waste has on marine ecosystems and the importance of collective action to tackle ocean pollution.
This joint effort strengthens the commitment of both Bluewave Alliance and the We AreWater Foundation to the conservation of the Mediterranean, aligning with theUnited Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13(Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water). Both organizations will continue to collaborate on initiatives that promote marine restoration and environmental awareness.
We thank all the volunteers who joined this initiative and helped make the Mediterranean a cleaner and healthier place. Let’s keep working together to protect our seas!
